Eye Test has drastically reduced Road Accidents - LASDRI
The General Manager of Lagos State Drivers' Institute (LASDRI), Mrs. Afusat Tiamiyu has said that the eye screening done at the Institute during the yearly training for professional drivers has helped to drastically reduce accidents on Lagos roads.
She revealed this while speaking at an ongoing three-day Motor Park Health and Safety Initiative Screening programme organised by the Lagos State Ministry of Health, in partnership with the Lagos State Drivers’ Institute, held at Berger Motor Park, Ojota.
Tiamiyu disclosed that the eye screening, carried out as part of the training programme, was to ascertain the visibility and clarity of vision for each trainee while anyone discovered to have bad eyesight is referred to an optician for necessary treatment before they receive their recertification cards.
She reiterated the importance of drivers having their eyes examined and thoroughly screened because a clear vision is one of the most important requirements for driving.
Tiamiyu, therefore, appreciated the efforts of the Lagos State Ministry of Health for the initiative which is aimed at reducing carnage on the roads and also ensuring the safety of the motoring public.
